A New Beginning: LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH to Take Over Operations of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH Effective April 1, 2026

On March 31, 2026, InfraLeuna GmbH and LEUNA-Harze GmbH, acting through their jointly established company LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, entered into a purchase agreement with the insolvency administrator of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH regarding the acquisition of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH’s assets. The agreement was notarized on March 31, 2026. The transfer of assets took place on April 1, 2026.

InfraLeuna and LEUNA-Harze recognize the importance of the site, the employees, and the reliable supply of customers. Both companies share a clear interest in jointly laying the foundation for a long-term, stable, and successful future – in the interest of the workforce, customers, and suppliers.

From the perspective of the site operator, InfraLeuna, the focus is particularly on preserving the industrial cluster. Dr. Christof Günther, Managing Director of InfraLeuna GmbH, explains: “With this acquisition, we have succeeded in averting significant damage to the Leuna chemical site. The high efficiency of our integrated energy and materials network will be maintained. This also preserves the competitiveness and attractiveness of our site – a key prerequisite for its continued development and future growth.”

For LEUNA-Harze GmbH, the investment was a deliberate business decision. “Our primary goal was to prevent the site from becoming an industrial ruin. The investment in the new company was necessary and the right move. Crucial to this is the close cooperation with InfraLeuna, which enables a viable future for the Leuna chemical site,” said Klaus Paur, Managing Director of LEUNA-Harze GmbH.

The new company is focused on the people at the site. Martin Naundorf, Managing Director of LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, emphasizes: “Our primary goal is to return to profitability. With a strong and experienced team of Domo employees and the dedicated support of our colleagues at InfraLeuna, we will create long-term prospects for the site and its employees.”

As part of the transition, employment prospects for the majority of the workforce can be secured. More than 430 jobs will be preserved through the takeover.

The new company thus has an experienced workforce, state-of-the-art facilities, and promising prospects for growth. The goal of LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH is to remain a reliable long-term partner for customers both in Germany and abroad. “This requires commitment, determination, and the support of everyone involved – but we are confident that this path will lead to success,” explains Martin Naundorf.

The Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze, says: “This is good news for Leuna and for our entire state, but above all for the employees of Domo. Together, we have found a viable solution. This shows that when everyone pulls together, we can secure industrial sites even in difficult situations and shape the future of Saxony-Anhalt.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved – the company and its employees, the insolvency administrator, InfraLeuna, Leuna-Harze, and all other local stakeholders. This solidarity was crucial.

The state government also pulled together on this. The State Chancellery, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of Finance worked closely and reliably together. This joint effort was an important part of the success.”

The insolvency administrator for DOMO Caproleuna GmbH, Prof. Dr. Lucas F. Flöther of the law firm Flöther & Wissing, expressed satisfaction with the investor solution that has been reached: “In LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, we have found an investor who will continue operations at the site and preserve the majority of jobs. The sale of the assets marks a positive conclusion to the insolvency proceedings. In particular, the preservation of jobs and the continuation of the site under new, viable structures are a good outcome for all parties involved.”

The necessary coordination efforts will continue in a structured manner in the coming weeks.

LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH will continue to keep employees, customers, and suppliers transparently informed about all significant developments and is counting on broad support as we move forward together toward a new future.
