On the premises of the Leuna chemical site, various companies handle hazardous substances in risk areas, which can have harmful effects on people and the environment if released. To ensure safe operation in these risk areas, companies have taken measures to avoid hazardous incidents as well as preventative measures in the event of an incident. These ensure that operations in risk areas are carried out to a very high safety standard so that incidents are unlikely, even though they cannot completely ruled out.
