14th Open Day on September 12, 2026, featuring a town festival and tenants’ festival in Leuna

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Leuna chemical site will once again open its doors from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and invite all interested parties to its 14th Open Day. InfraLeuna GmbH is organizing this event in collaboration with the City of Leuna, Wohnungswirtschaft Leuna GmbH, and numerous companies located at the site.

Visitors can learn about the changes at the chemical site at information booths and during free guided tours. InfraLeuna conducts guided tours of the site, and the companies based there – DOW Olefinverbund GmbH, the Fraunhofer Center for Chemical-Biotechnological Processes (CBP), Innospec Leuna GmbH, LEUNA-Harze GmbH, Linde GmbH, MVV Umwelt Asset GmbH, and TotalEnergies Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH – offer tours with plant visits.

Free tickets for the site tours, destination tours, and trips to the InfraLeuna locomotive exhibition will be available at the ticket booth starting at 9:00 a.m. The first bus trips will depart at 10:00 a.m.

“With this Open Day, we want to give everyone interested the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the Leuna chemical site and get to know InfraLeuna as an important local service provider, employer, and neighbor. I look forward to enjoying an informative and varied day together with our employees, their families, our business partners, and people from the neighborhood,” said Dr. Christof Günther, Managing Director of InfraLeuna GmbH.

At the InfraLeuna booth, interested visitors can get comprehensive information on jobs and careers. Employees from the Human Resources department will be available to discuss open positions, apprenticeships, or individual career paths, as well as to answer questions about the application process. In conjunction with this, an exclusive presentation titled “Your Career at InfraLeuna – InfraLeuna as an Employer” will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Visitor Information Center (BIZ, Office Center Building 4310). Those interested can register for the presentation at the InfraLeuna booth.

InfraLeuna’s in-house fire department will offer a glimpse into its equipment during the Open House. Visitors will be able to view the fleet of vehicles on the grounds of Fire Station I at the main gate.

Once again this year, there’s plenty to see for all train and model train enthusiasts. The “3rd Leuna Model Railroad Days” public exhibition is taking place at the cCe Kulturhaus Leuna, where the Mitteldeutsche TT-Modulbahner e. V. will be showcasing numerous model railroad layouts. And for those who want to marvel at them in full size or even take a ride, the locomotive exhibition organized by InfraLeuna’s logistics division is the place to be.

The gallery at the cCe Kulturhaus Leuna is presenting a selection of works by the internationally renowned Berlin artist Jim Avignon for the first time in the exhibition “Art Full of Color and Energy” and invites children and adults to a creative workshop with Felix Lorenz. Participants can try their hand at linocut printing alongside the artist. Participation is free of charge.

Coinciding with the Open Day, the City of Leuna invites you to the City Festival, and Wohnungswirtschaft Leuna GmbH invites you to the Tenants’ Festival at Haupttorplatz. Visitors can look forward to a varied program of activities for the whole family, featuring a wide range of food and drink options, a shopping street, a flea market and book fair, a bounce house, a carousel, and a children’s stage. The festivities are complemented by the city competition organized by enviaM and MITGAS, where participants will be pedaling hard for a good cause. There’s plenty to discover about Leuna during the guided tours of the city archives and the sculpture park. Advance registration at the City Information Office is required to participate.

On the radio SAW stage at Haupttorplatz, hosts Freddy Holzapfel and Warren Green, groups such as the Tanzstudio Leuna/Merseburg e.V. and the Showakrobaten from Spergau, DJ Acki, the “Showtown Danceband,” and the radio SAW Dancers will keep the party going until midnight. The stage program is jointly sponsored by the City of Leuna, Wohnungswirtschaft Leuna, and InfraLeuna.
