The DLR Institute of Combustion Technology develops solutions to make both energy supply resilient and aviation climate-friendly. To this end, it conducts research into the production and use of renewable fuels and innovative gas turbine combustion chamber systems for energy supply and aviation.
Electricity-based fuels (power-to-liquid) are essential for lower-emission and climate-friendly aviation and can also contribute to climate protection in shipping and heavy goods transport. With the “Power-to-Liquid Fuels Technology Platform” (TPP), the DLR Institute of Combustion Technology in Leuna is building the largest research facility for electricity-based fuels to date. The TPP is used to develop, test, and demonstrate the production and application of electricity-based fuels. The Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) is funding the construction of the TPP with around 130 million euros.
